Position: Temp Greenhouse 432

Summary

The successful candidate will work with the manager and greenhouse specialist team to harvest and transplant our lettuce crop in an environmentally controlled hydroponic greenhouse.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Harvest and transplant our hydroponic lettuce crop on a weekly basis

  • Weighing lettuce on a scale during harvest

  • Picking floats of lettuce up out of the ponds

  • Taping boxes

  • Putting floats through our float washer machine

  • Cleaning propagation tables

  • Assisting other team members with clean up after harvest

  • Other duties as assigned or required.

  • Some knowledge and passion for hydroponic plant production (vine and leaf crops)

  • Ability to follow a very high standard of procedures for our food safety program.

  • Qualified applicants will also possess excellent communication skills, be self-motivated, and be a team player.

 

Education and/or Experience                                                   

  • Associate's degree

  • Or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training

  • Must have the communication skills appropriate for the job

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions

Language Skills                                                

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.

Mathematical Skills                                                     

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability                                             

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
